A reconstructed facsimile of the 1684 Gilbert Burnet translation, reset line-for-line using a digitized period font — including the period’s typographic conventions: the long s, ct and st ligatures, unparagraphed blocks of text, direct quotations run into the surrounding prose without quotation marks. Glosses have been added in the margins to assist the contemporary reader. The book also includes maps, illustrations, scans of original pages, and an essay.
This is an admitted vanity project, included here because it shows where the interest in typography and book design comes from. The 1684 edition was one of the first books read carefully enough to notice how it was made.
