A Reconstructed Facsimile: a new edition built to match the original as closely as possible, page for page, without access to the original files. The text was scanned and converted to editable text via OCR, then set to match the original Knopf edition — same fonts, same type size, same leading and letter spacing, same line breaks, same page starts and stops. The book includes an index, tables, and charts, all matched to the original.
More than 60 pages of new material were added: correspondence, documents, and commentary not in the original edition.
The original book won the George Polk Award for investigative reporting.
