Book, Booklet,
and Mini Book Templates for Desktop Self Publishers |
|
|
|
|
|
I am often
asked how to make books or booklets on the standard desktop
inkjet printer (8 1/2 X 11 inch paper). The key is in knowing
where to position text or images (impostition) so that when
the paper is folded and stapled you have a book. |
|
|
There are
a number of online services that will make books for you:
you upload a set of pictures, select a template, and you
get an digital book or you can order paper copies. For many
people this is a good choice. But if you want to print a
booklet on your printer, if you want control over your design
choices, if you want to make quick changes, if you want
to print a copy when you want, these Templates are for you! |
|
|
|
If you are unsure whether your printer will work,
test your printer. |
|
If you are
going to have your book, booklet, or mini book printed by
a commercial printer or a company like Kinko's, Staples, or
Sir Speedy, these templates will work for you (although you
should talk with the printer to find out what their requirements
are). |

*Most people flatten their
files; however, I do not recommend simply flattening. Too
often, a day or so later, I discover I want to make a change.
If you have flattened your layers, you make more work for
yourself. If space is a problem, burn a CD or DVD with the
page files unflattened, then flatten the page file. The Template
Set includes a page of my recommendations for saving files.
